Snake in the office

My boss messaged me just few minutes ago. There's a snake inside our room. Apparently, since we have issues of other people here in the company who blogs while at work, we blocked all blog sites. This I have been ranting several months ago. The turn of events has made me able to go back to blogging several times.

Going back to my boss, he was told by our manager that if we were the ones who blog, why should we block the others. After this, he heard this certain snake giving comments about blogging yesterday. My boss is now sure who gives that information to our manager.

The snake is really annoying. Why wouldn't he see himself who just surf and sleep at work. Don't you think somebody should tell the manager of what he does? It's kinda unfair to our group since I am the only one who blogs, I am the only one who is affected.

I don't want to give up on blogging. This is my only avenue to release my stress and what nots.

I wouldn't be shocked if one time, my boss will tell me to stop scrapbooking as he often see me doing one whenever I don't have task to do.

It only means one thing, wherever we are, there will always be a snake around.

Halo-halo

Pardon me if I wasn't able to update this blog for a couple of weeks now. I've been stressed the past few weeks as the little boy wasn't home. Call it separation anxiety. The little boy seems to have a grand time there as he was always in a hurry whenever I call. This makes me cry.

They spent a week there and they arrived just this Saturday night. I totally freaked out when I heard the little boy cough so hard that we went to his uncle pedia the very next morning. Of course, we were scolded by hubby's brother.His cough was on and off the past few months that we even had an x-ray to check if the little boy has problems with his lungs. Apparently, there were none.

We spent the day in Festival Mall for the little boy's Pixie Forest treat. Afterwards, we head to Mercury Drug to buy his medicines and nebulizer. Good thing, the little boy takes his medicines without tantrums. The nebulizer is another issue though. Our room looks like a hospital's private room with his medicines, nebulizer and few snacks on our night table.

I just hope the little boy gets well soon.

On the other hand, I am in night shift again. I dread this month. I set my mind that this shift will end soon.

Sunday work

I'm here at the office rendering a half-day OT for a migration of a database that needs our LN support. The little boy and the daddy is in the office too, in the working mom's room. Hehe!

Almost losing a job

The regional manager in Geneva has been questioning our group's performance for a couple of months now. We can't understand why but it seems that there are a lot of misunderstandings on their end and ours. And since he has been questioning our team;s tasks, there is a possibility that he won't justify to the other regional managers our team as they are the one shouldering the costs. The worst thing that may happen is for us to loose our job. We'll be having a meeting tomorrow regarding this issue and I hope we can at least resolve a part of it or else I need to update my resume and find another job before everything comes to worst here

I thought

I'll in the night shift starting on Monday until the 29th of the month. So I thought...

I'll go full blast in blogging - increase PR, more opps, more moolah.

Sadly though, everything is just "I thought." My boss has finally decided to permanently kill the proxy that we are using. The one that I'm referring as the legally illegal proxy. And since the official proxy of the company blocked all blog sites, cbox, etc. I won't be able to update my blog more often. I need to use a web proxy first before I can be able to update my home.

To all, please... If you have tags, awards, and messages for me, don't put it in my CBOX, put in the COMMENT section of any post I have. I'm so sorry for this one. I know, this could mean lost of visitors in my site. I can't do anything as of this time. Sigh...

Is it goodbye now?

I’ll be in hiatus again in blogging. Why? My boss killed the unofficial proxy temporarily as he suspects that there was a leakage and some other team knew about it. I will try to squeeze time if I can, hopefully.

Proxy and DMZ issues

Pardon my being absent from the blogging world for a few days. Tasks in the office are over flowing while my boss is on leave. The proxy server is acting up weird almost every single day. We have reinstalled the ISA server several times already. I guess it's high time to replace the hardware, don't you think. Servers connected in the DMZ can't be access. I've tried reseating the data cables, power off the switch and all very I resort the last option which is to ask our regional network administrator (the one in China) to check our firewall. Good thing as he was able to fix it or else “Gollum” will bombard our team with shit. Hahaha! Hopefully, things will be smoother this day. Good day to all!

Traffic!!!

Guess what? It's my first day of my Morning Shift. Woke up around 5 in the mornign to be on the road by 6 but heck, I wasn't able to ride a bus still by 6:30. So I expected to be late. After the bus drop us off to Ayala, I hailed a cab going to Paseo.

Time in: 7:30.
Status: 30-minutes late.

Geneva issue

Dear All,

Please be advised that we are currently experiencing network problem affecting WAN connectivity to Geneva. Network Team is currently checking on this. We will advise you once ok.

Argh! I completely disagree with this mail. First and foremost, the mail sounded like we are the one having problems why the connection to Geneva is down which is so untrue. No matter what we do, the problem is not with us. Kahit magtambling pa kami at magmagic, we CAN'T do anything. Besides, we have already informed them prior to this mail that Geneva's WAN router interface is down. That is so simple to understand. This mail is forwarded to all users including the top management. Yeah right? Our name is always in bad reputation. As always.

Friday the 13th

Some say it's malas. Some say it's not.
Whatever others say, I had a taste of it's glitch.

I received my payslip early this morning. I was giddy happy to see it. Then my world crashed when I saw the figures.

Why?

I was expecting something big. I was expecting for my salary adjustment. It's natural as the memo indicates that May 12 was the effectivity of it. What the heck is going on with HR/Finance?

Since were not talking about few digits here (teehee), I immediately advised my boss about this. He was actually the one who suggested the adjustment to our Manager.

Few clarifications and I saw myself writing an email of clarification to the HR manager. She replied immediately. The adjustment will be retroactive and be creditted to my next payroll. The reason of late adjustment? They just received the copy of the memo yesterday. Duh?!

Now, what's going on with the people on the 21/F?
Hmmm...

Internet down

Our legal proxy (yes, we both have a legal and illegal proxy) went down few hours ago. The culprit is the “supervisor” of another team. Since they were the one who actually maintains this before, I let him access it when he asked me to. He told me that he’ll just be checking on something. Lo and behold, right after that, the proxy isn’t working anymore. Gawd! We went to panic mode again – checking the configurations and everything. We saw that the utilization shoot up to 100%. What the heck is going on? Did some testing and the proxy is up and running. Still under observation though…

Haven’t you noticed I daily update my blog? Haven’t you asked yourself why since I vehemently rant about blogger being blocked by my boss? Our team is using an legally illegal proxy.

VLAN 2 - check!

Whew! Twas a very tiresome OT, but very rewarding one as we were finally done with our second stage in our VLAN project. The configuration of the switches and its ports are far easier than tracing the cables and where in the patch panel it was terminated. Very very tiring activity as we need to check each of the 36 PCs their cable label. Our network contractor is not good in labeling, there are lot of duplicate labels. What's the use of color coded cables if there are still duplicate labels? Argh!!!

Poor Africa2 Deparment, as they were the chosen one - guinea pigs. They only need to access WAN and local servers such as DHCP, Proxy and Lotus Notes - nothing more. That's why. Hihihi! So by Monday, if there won't be any complains with their access as well as other network related issues, we can definitely say we've been successful with it. Or else, everything will be set back to its original config. So more updates on Monday if we've been successful with this. Ciao everyone! Have a great weekend! :-)

20 floors

Since we didn't receive a tip that we'll be having a fire drill today, we were unprepared when the drill started this afternoon. We should have used to elevators to go down before the drill started. So with my colleague, we hid inside the server room. Hihihi! I know, I know what you'll all gonna tell me. I'd rather stay beside the servers than use the stairs going down from our floor. That's 20 floors. I'll just tell them I'm pregnant and I can't use the stairs if were questioned about not participating. Now that's the beauty of being a woman, LOL!

In search

For a training center that offers Linux training - Linux System Administration and Linux Networking and Security Administration to be exact. I have already asked InfoTech Xchange and QLinux Labs. However, their schedule is not approved by my boss. I’m scouting for a center that offers weekend schedule since I still need to report to work during weekdays, 1pm to 10pm for this month. Btw, my company will be shouldering the expenses. Help!!!

Update to my 201 file

Last Tuesday morning, I received my contract of regularization. I almost didn't signed it as my basic salary was still the same and so was my position. I told them that my boss has confirmed to me about my increase and changed in position. They told me that they already knew about it and that our manager has not yet approved it. So with a heavy heart, I signed the contract. Next thing I did was to call my boss telling him about the contract. He told me that he'll fix it once he arrived to work. True to his words, I received an update to my employment contract with my new position and salary. I have the best boss here. Thank you so much! Kudos to you Sir!

Online no more

One of the new employees here was given Office Communicator. Since he was wondering why his doesn't have external access, he emailed the "supervisor" regarding his concern. This "supervisor" then forwarded the email to our manager. The result? The manager decided to remove all our external access. All of us doesn't have one now. Our communicator is for internal use only. Oh man!

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

Oh my RightFax

This certain colleague of mine is getting in to my nerves. Note: he's a supervisor. Just tonight, I received an email from him asking to check this certain connection to an email converter for RightFax. Apparently, he did not do any investigation. He immediately forwarded the concern to us since the problem is more likely from Outlook - late receipt of files and duplicate receipt of files. Argh!

And he even emailed the whole Indexing team about this asking us to check on the issue at the time when we don't have any support. Then all of sudden, he goes home without any advice. Crap!

No wonder, his staff are all against him. He doesn't deserve his post. Kainis!

Changed mind

Last Saturday morning, I extended my stay in the office as my boss asked for a meeting. I initially thought that he'll be officially saying his goodbyes and be turning over some pending tasks that he is currently dealing with.

He has finally made up his mind. He'll be staying with us for good. He had a conflict with his supposedly new boss so he backed out and decide to stay. Good news? Indeed, it was!

So back to work we will be.

Network issue again?!

“May problem ba tayo sa network?”

That’s the first words I heard from my colleague when I entered our room. I got pissed immediately. Hey! I just arrived. I haven’t turned on my PC nor read mails yet. And you were expecting me to know if there’s an issue with our network. Argh!

Few minutes, I learned that we’re having intermittent connection to Geneva. So I emailed everybody about the issue. A supervisor from operations was asking me about the projected time of resolution. Ang sarap sabihin, malay ko! I mean, we have a third-party network provider who I have correspondence with regarding the issue. They are the one who’ll be investigating and fixing the problem. Besides, we are not just the country experiencing packet loss to Geneva. Kainis!

At press time, we still have the issue. Kung pwede lang sana na deadma na ako sa issue kaya lang ako naman mapapagalitan ng boss ko. Whew!
