Pull the Trigger

The U.S. Supreme Court's historic ruling on June 25th for individual gun rights is expected to trigger a spray of new legal challenges to the stiffest gun control laws across the country.

Respect privacy

I hate whenever someone peeks on my personal things. Bills under my name should be open none other than me. Whether that may be eletricity, water, phone - please respect it's private. You wait before I show it to you.

Ok now. Our vice mayor send a gift for my upcoming birthday two weeks from now. The gift is cheap, yes, but that wasn't my point. It was addressed to me so I should be the one to unwrap it, please! Why did you unwrap a portion of it? Just to check what the item is? Gawd! That was supposed to be mine, argh!

I hate it whenever people invade my privacy. I'm not a madamot type of person. I even spare myself just to share it with others.

This doesn't not happen just today. Envelopes inside my cabinet was obviosuly been checked. Personal letters too. Even contracts that supposedly none of your business. Now, I'm not sure if my planner is spared on such act.

I am pissed. Normally, I keep Silent. But please, one more act and I'll show you what you've been looking for.

Geneva issue

Dear All,

Please be advised that we are currently experiencing network problem affecting WAN connectivity to Geneva. Network Team is currently checking on this. We will advise you once ok.

Thanks and regards,
PH Manila IST

*******

Argh! I completely disagree with this mail. First and foremost, the mail sounded like we are the one having problems why the connection to Geneva is down which is so untrue. No matter what we do, the problem is not with us. Kahit magtambling pa kami at magmagic, we CAN'T do anything. Besides, we have already informed them prior to this mail that Geneva's WAN router interface is down. That is so simple to understand. This mail is forwarded to all users including the top management. Yeah right? Our name is always in bad reputation. As always.

EON is here

Remember this post?

Well, it was a very long wait before I can actually hear the one working in Unionbank Insular to say the magic words "Your card is available for pick-up." Yes, I waited for almost a month, consistenly checking every week if mine is already available.

I tried my luck last Monday and fortunately hear the magic words. Now, I have my EON card with me though I still have questions as to why I have to wait for 7 freaking days before it gets activated. Another waiting... I just hope things will flow smoothly so that I can verify my paypal already. Wish me luck!

Thanks to Frank!

Thank you for giving us tons and tons of headaches.

You were the root cause why our XPC database crashed.
You were the root cause why our PABX OS became corrupted.
You were the root cause why our Proxy was inaccesible for one whole day.
You were the root cause why our data center can't be open automatically.

Thanks to you Frank!

The power interruption and surges that happened last Sunday makes us all busy with work.

No bloghopping for me.
No online whatsoever yet.
I'll be back.
I promise!

Citzenship For Sale?

What if the United States began charging for the legal right to immigrate? Nobel Laureate Gary Becker (University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business) came up with the idea. Becker's not trying to eject illegal workers; in fact, he said, they could pay to stay. The idea is to upend the existing black market that exacts a high price for illegal immigrants -- some who pay with their lives.
Note: this is not about allowing individuals to sell their citizenship; it is about suggesting that market forces could more efficiently execute immigration policy.

He pinched the baby!!!

Went home last night seeing my little boy wide and awake. My mom told me to ask him what does he did with the baby - pertaining to the newborn baby of my younger brother. I asked him and he narrate "kurot baby iyak." Oh my! He actually pinched the baby's arm!

Gawd! I asked him if he says sorry to the baby and he told me yes. I immediately went to the mother asking her what happen. The truth is, the mother just get something from the table when she saw the little boy pinching the baby's arm. The arm gets red, of course.

You know what happen next? I told the little boy that we he did is wrong and that he can't go near the baby anymore not without someone to look after him. That means he can't even touch nor kiss the baby unless someone is holding him. Baka may mangyari pang masama sa baby. And the little boy's reaction? Wala! He covers his face with Tigger and doesn't want to be carried nor hugged by us.

Manang mana sa ama pag pinapagalitan ko. Afterwards, he's back to his kulit and likot mode again. Oh well...

Happy Weekend everyone!

Offshore Drilling - You want it?

As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.

I tasted again

Yes, I tasted online shopping again. Used my PayPal again. This time it's a wallet for hubby and a bag for me.

Lookie>>Hubby's Dockers wallet

Your Firsts

Most of our 'firsts' made some sort of impact on us ... they have become the fabric of our lives ... I don't remember my first romantic kiss, but I do remember my first beer ... it was with my dad at a Knights of Columbus event ... so, dig back and remember.

Many thanks to Joan Batanes for suggesting this conversation!!

NBA 2008 Championship

No, I'm not a fanatic of NBA. But since hubby won't sleep yet not until the game is over, I found myself hooked on it as well. Today is Game 6, with 4-2 ranking favoring Boston Celtics against LA Lakers.

When the game reaches it's 4th quarter, it was very obvious. They have dismantled Lakers with the score of 131-92. It was a sweet win for the Celtics, their first title in 22 years.

Congrats to Celtics!

In search

I've been searching badly for Playtex Baby Einstein Mealtime Sets for the past month. I tried SM Department Store in Makati, Glorietta even Festival Mall, but so unlucky to find one. Hubby wanted the little boy to have his own set of dinnerware, that's why.

Please if ever somebody sees one like this, drop me a line. Thank you so much!
Playtex Baby Einstein Eat & Discover Toddler Mealtime Set

Playtex Baby Einstein Sip & Discover Spill-Proof Cup

Playtex Baby Einstein Eat & Discover Placemat

Btw, Playtex now accepts PayPal. Too bad I don't have enough moolah there.

The taste is sweet

Remember this?

Last Thursday, I tried my luck in online shopping. At first, I was adamant to try. Since many have attest that this work, I tried it as well. And so I chance upon Beadix in multiply who offers branded bags and wallet for a reasonable price. What makes this online seller better than the others is that she accepts paypal as mode of payment. Great! I am even so lucky to see Liz Claiborne wallet that I'm so dying to have months ago. One caught my attention and the rest is history as I may say.

She told me I'll be receiving my item last Saturday and I did. There was even a handwritten note from her. Do visit here site. She's selling RL, Liz Claiborne, Nine West bags. She's also selling accessories (necklaces, bracelets, etc.) which I think she personally does.

For CJ, thanks for the smooth and fuzz free transaction.

Here take a look >>My Liz Claiborne wallet

Home Computer Security

No matter how a home computer is connected to the Internet, intruders? attacks are often successful. Many home computer owners don?t realize that they need to pay attention to computer security. In the same way that you are responsible for having insurance when you drive a car, you need to also be responsible for your home computer?s security.

Rated 18

Warning! This post is R-18. I am a wondering why there are a lot of advertisement in our local tabloids and even some broadsheets regarding male enhancement medicines. Some even claim that their penis enlarger capsules do wonders. Is there really men who would like to have penis enlargement? I don’t know. The question is for guys to answer.

#1 Dad

Aside from my Dad, the next person I consider the #1 Dad in the world is my hubby. Need I explain more?

Daddy quotes

Father: a role model who gives the gifts of guidance and wisdom while learning how to stretch his ability to love beyond what he knew was possible.Whether you are a father or planning to become one, you'll discover a nugget of wisdom and experience in each of these unforgettable "Father Quotes".

  1. 1. Fathers, like mothers, are not born. Men grow into fathers--and fathering is a very important stage in their development. - David M. Gottesman
  2. As you journey through [life], you will encounter all sorts of these nasty little upsets, and you will either learn to adjust yourself to them or gradually go nuts. - Groucho Marx
  3. What you have inherited from your father, you must earn over again for yourselves, or it will not be yours. - Johann Wofgang von Goethe
  4. No man can possibly know what life means, what the world means, what the world means, what anything means, until he has a child and loves it. - Lafcadio Hearn
  5. When dealing with a two-year-old in the midst of a tantrum, fathers need to be particularly watchful about the tendency to need to feel victorious. - Dr. Kyle Pruett (Quoted in Dads, June/July 2000)
  6. True maturity is only reached when a man realizes he has become a father figure to his daughters' girlfriends--and he accepts it. - Larry McMurtry
  7. My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it. - Clarence Kelland
  8. Let us teach them not only to do virtuously, but to excel. To excel they must be taught to be steady, active, and industrious. - John Adams
  9. A boy, by the age of three years, senses that his destiny is to be a man, so he watches his father particularly--his interests, manner, speech, pleasures, his attitude toward work... - Benjamin Spock and Michael B. Rothenberg, Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care (1992)
  10. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. - Colossians 3:20
  11. To show a child what once delighted you, to find the child's delight added to your own so that there is now a double delight seen in the glow of trust and affection, this is happiness. - J.B. Priestley
  12. A girl's father is the first man in her life, and probably the most influential. - David Jeremiah (Quoted in Fathers Who Dare to Win by Ian Grant, 1999)
  13. I talk and talk and talk, and I haven't taught people in fifty years what my father taught by example in one week. - Mario Cuomo
  14. Father taught us that opportunity and responsibility go hand in hand. I think we all act on that principle; on the basic human impulse that makes a man want to make the best of what's in him and what's been given him. - Laurence Rockefeller
  15. Hug. - Annie Pigeon, Dad's Little Instruction Book (1995)

These brief nuggets of gold describe the tremendous influence of a father upon his children. Particularly, they convey the importance of a loving spirit and how mutually beneficial a father-child relationship is. Through the years, we must be willing to learn much from our children, to grow with them, and give them the unconditional love and support needed to foster their trust, courage, and sense of personal responsibility.

Tomorrow is Father's Day

There are often situations and times when we forget to hug our Dads and kiss them and tell them that we love them like we do to our mothers. We assume him to be the provider for the family and all that we want and ponder over the fact that how hard he has to work to get us our daily bread and clothes. We become selfish and all we think about is ourselves. From the time, when we worship our beloved Pops for all that he knows and all that he could, we move on to a rebellious teenage, when we make it a point to argue about everything and anything that he advises to us.

Sometimes, by the time when we realize how much he has sacrificed for us and how often he has stood up against the destiny to protect us from the hard blows of life, it is too late.

Now is the time to show our Dad how much we love and respect him and how much we care for him

Fathers Day

Friday the 13th

Some say it's malas. Some say it's not.
Whatever others say, I had a taste of it's glitch.

I received my payslip early this morning. I was giddy happy to see it. Then my world crashed when I saw the figures.

Why?

I was expecting something big. I was expecting for my salary adjustment. It's natural as the memo indicates that May 12 was the effectivity of it. What the heck is going on with HR/Finance?

Since were not talking about few digits here (teehee), I immediately advised my boss about this. He was actually the one who suggested the adjustment to our Manager.

Few clarifications and I saw myself writing an email of clarification to the HR manager. She replied immediately. The adjustment will be retroactive and be creditted to my next payroll. The reason of late adjustment? They just received the copy of the memo yesterday. Duh?!

Now, what's going on with the people on the 21/F?
Hmmm...

Thanks a lot Vannie. Hope Ozzy gets well soon.

Internet down

Our legal proxy (yes, we both have a legal and illegal proxy) went down few hours ago. The culprit is the “supervisor” of another team. Since they were the one who actually maintains this before, I let him access it when he asked me to. He told me that he’ll just be checking on something. Lo and behold, right after that, the proxy isn’t working anymore. Gawd! We went to panic mode again – checking the configurations and everything. We saw that the utilization shoot up to 100%. What the heck is going on? Did some testing and the proxy is up and running. Still under observation though…

Haven’t you noticed I daily update my blog? Haven’t you asked yourself why since I vehemently rant about blogger being blocked by my boss? Our team is using an legally illegal proxy.

HammeRuler ... It's new, really new!

We often come across products that initially look like a good idea, but then we realize that the inventor, producer, and marketer really haven't asked those that will use it to get involved in the development. So, we're going to avoid this mistake -- with your help, of course.

Gas Station Convenience

Do we get our gas at a place where we can get a lot more done? We're on the move and but when we stop we like to make the most of it ... or it may be better to find a specialist store rather than opt for convenience.

Celebrations

Today is my youngest brother and hubby's birthday. No grand celebration whatsoever. Hubby and I needs to report to work, that's why. My brother will definitely celebrate today. Joshua will have his spaghetti moment, for sure. On the other hand, hubby's celebration will probably be on Sunday - our usual family day. As for his present, can I say pass? Lol! I'll try to squeeze time to get him one before the week ends.

Massage

There are over 80 types of massage therapy. In all of them, therapists press, rub, and otherwise manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body, often varying pressure and movement. They most often use their hands and fingers, but may use their forearms, elbows, or feet. Typically, the intent is to relax the soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them, and decrease pain.

Ang lumaki sa mabuting pamilya o ang pinalaki sa karanasan sa buhay?

Toni's lines before announcing the Big Winner
"Sino ang pinaniwalaan ng taong bayan? Ang lumaki ba sa mabuting pamilya o ang pinalaki sa karanasan sa buhay? Ang nagpakita ng kanyang mga natutunan o ang nagpakita ng kanyang totoong sarili?"

PBB is finally over - but can't still get over it. Hay! I wasn't able to watch the start of the Big Night. Arrived home seeing my kid dancing to the tune of "Ang Saya Dito."

The concept of the show was fab. Hehehe! I like the way the envelope came out of the so-called comet that landed the earth, LOL! I like the way Ejay reacted when he he heard that we is the Big Winner - totoong totoo. He was at pure bliss. I also like the way his stepdad (Daddy Earning) who was also the Big Winner of the Guardians carried him as if telling the whole Dome that this is my son. Hahaha! I can't keep my mouth shut in telling nasty comments to his mom though. See, his mom left him when they were still in Mindoro and now that he has everything, there she was again. Hay...
Anyways, here are the number of votes/percentage of each winner.
Ejay 36.31% (620,934 votes)
Robi 34.39% (588,116 votes)
Nikki 18.39% (314,582 votes)
Beauty 10.91% (186,523 votes) Pictures snagged here.

VLAN 2 - check!

Whew! Twas a very tiresome OT, but very rewarding one as we were finally done with our second stage in our VLAN project. The configuration of the switches and its ports are far easier than tracing the cables and where in the patch panel it was terminated. Very very tiring activity as we need to check each of the 36 PCs their cable label. Our network contractor is not good in labeling, there are lot of duplicate labels. What's the use of color coded cables if there are still duplicate labels? Argh!!!

Poor Africa2 Deparment, as they were the chosen one - guinea pigs. They only need to access WAN and local servers such as DHCP, Proxy and Lotus Notes - nothing more. That's why. Hihihi! So by Monday, if there won't be any complains with their access as well as other network related issues, we can definitely say we've been successful with it. Or else, everything will be set back to its original config. So more updates on Monday if we've been successful with this. Ciao everyone! Have a great weekend! :-)

Who will be the PBB Teen Edition Plus Big Winner?

It’s the season of PBB again. I can recall being scolded by hubby during the first season since I stayed up late just to watch it. I was pregnant with Joshua then. Now, the Big Night is just a one sleep away. Due to my erratic schedule, I wasn’t able to watch it religiously. So, I don’t actually have a bet on who’ll be the big winner. Anyone can be, it doesn’t matter except Nicole. Yes, at an early age she has been showing signs of being a slut. I know the Nicosef story, LOL! Poor Mica, Josef left her just to be free once Nikki goes out of the house. I don’t like Beauty too, she seems to frank. Robi, on the other hand seems to be playing safe all the time. Ejay is too good to be true. I pity the latter when Daddy John told him that he can’t be an artista since he doesn’t know good English. Kainis talaga yang Español na yan, LOL!

The Big Four of PBB Teen Edition Plus:

The Promdie Hottie (Ejay)
Full Name: Ejay Falcon
Origin: Oriental Mindoro

At first glance, Ejay doesn't look the typical promdi for he moves in a smooth and urbane manner. But as one gets to know him, the truth about his hometown begins to show, not that he tries to hide it. This shy lad from Oriental Mindoro speaks with straight and clear Tagalog, with a taint of Mindorenyo and a Visayan accent. Ejay grew up in the island of Pola where there is a scarcity of water and electricity, and watching TV Patrol and primetime teleseryes from the community TV, the only form of entertainment for the residents. Despite his timid ways acquired from his rural origins and strict Christian upbringing, Ejay is courageous and determined, ready to take on anything just to free his family from the poverty that ruined his parents' marriage. He dreams big for his family that even if he is granted one wish, he’d not ask for fame but for his family to be together again. He is hopeful that Pinoy Big Brother is the first big step to realizing this dream.

The Rebellious Beauty (Beauty)
Full Name: Christine Marie Gonzalez
Origin: Dumaguete

Beauty is a known sugarcane princess, coming from a family of landed hacienderos in Negros. With doting parents and nannies to do everything for her, she is pretty much used to people around her giving in to all her whims. But despite of this, Beauty learned early in life the value of having principles, and this belief of hers has already gotten her into catfights in school. After a controversial brawl in defense of her own reputation, Beauty was prevented from joining her graduation march as imposed by the officers of her school. Beauty admits to being vain and is very conscious of her looks even at a very young age. But she hopes that the other housemates would look beyond this characteristic of hers for she is also very friendly, a “loka-loka” and easy to get along with.

The In-Chick (Nikki)
Full Name: Nicole Kim Uysiuseng
Origin:Quezon City

Nikki is not your typical hyper-active and expressive teen. At a young age, she has learned to take hold of her emotions and control her actions (read: prim and proper). Very in character for the daughter of a Chinese businessman, who has led a sheltered and comfortable life thus far. The biggest problem she’s had was the initial disapproval of her family towards her chosen guy, but even that is now resolved and all is right in her world. Everything is quite perfect for this little miss: a good life, a supportive family, and a blooming love life. Nikki thinks she’ll be able to get along quite well with the other housemates, as long as there are no plastic people in the group. Once you get past her shy and quiet demeanor, Nikki is friendly and ready to take on tasks and adventures. It is interesting to see how Nikki will be able to deal with the diverse personalities of the housemates. Will she still be able to keep her cool? How will Nikki cope with the simpler life in Kuya’s house? Moreover, will her young love stand the test of time and distance, especially with a number of cute boys in close proximity?

The True Blue Atenean (Robi)
Full Name: Robert Marion Domingo
Origin:Quezon City

Being a housemate, Robi has to forego his high school graduation – and the chance to receive his award for excellence personally. Living up to being a man for others, though, he considers the chance to be a housemate a worthy compromise, not because it may be a claim to fame but as an opportunity to be a good influence to others.Aiming high, he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in medicine. A member of the baseball varsity and the honor roll as well, it seems all is set for Robi. One thing he can’t seem to get the hang of, unfortunately, is his love life. He got dumped both times he tried courting a girl, though he’s really persistent in pursuing the second. Too bad they don’t teach Courtship (Anti-torpe) 101 in high school. As he enters the PBB house, Robi has very positive thoughts on today’s youth. He perceives them to be well-rounded individuals, versatile and willing to try out a variety of things. He carries the same attitude towards his housemates, believing the best of them as he looks forward to hanging out with them despite the varied interests. Having the Atenean school spirit, will he still be able to think the same way when he lives in close quarters with someone from a rival school? Is he truly the good trophy boy that he seems to be? Will Kuya teach a summer course on courtship inside the yellow house? And will he have a summer love to boot?

20 floors

Since we didn't receive a tip that we'll be having a fire drill today, we were unprepared when the drill started this afternoon. We should have used to elevators to go down before the drill started. So with my colleague, we hid inside the server room. Hihihi! I know, I know what you'll all gonna tell me. I'd rather stay beside the servers than use the stairs going down from our floor. That's 20 floors. I'll just tell them I'm pregnant and I can't use the stairs if were questioned about not participating. Now that's the beauty of being a woman, LOL!

Saturday OTs

Hubby and I had a small argument early this morning. This was because I informed him that my boss advised us that we are required to work all Saturday until December for the VLAN project. Kainis! Ang dami pang sinasabi. As if naman I'm gonna play here. Besides, this is additional moolah for us. Too bad, less time for the little boy. We'll have family day na lang every Sunday.

PC vs. Mac

For the most part, PC and Mac systems are both very good. For the most part, both systems are infuriatingly bad. It really depends on what you are trying to do at a given moment.

Should Hillary concede?

"Our party and our country are better off because of her, and I am a better candidate for having had the honor to compete with Hillary Rodham Clinton," Obama said Tuesday night. Clinton Aides say that not conceding is a strategic decision to preserve her leverage to negotiate over policy disagreements and the possibility that she would join Obama's ticket as the vice presidential nominee.

Caregiver

We were able to catch the last full show of Caregiver last Friday night at Festival Mall. I only watch Star Cinema movies – Tagalog movies, that is. Anyways, what can I say about the movie? Sharon may not cried pails of tears but her acting was superb. May mga characters lang na super konti ng exposure sa movie – like her son, lola, mom, siblings, lola, nephews and MIL. I also find Makisig’s exposure in the film a so-so. Did I say I cried while watching it? Babaw luha ko eh, which made hubby laugh a little. He often finds it amusing whenever I cry watching movies.

Here’s the synopsis of the movie from their official website.

Sarah (Sharon Cuneta), a grade school English teacher, joins the 150,000 Pinoy OFWs working in the United Kingdom to support her husband, Teddy (John Estrada), in making a better living for their family.

After that fleeting period of excitement, she experiences the hard challenges every Filipino caregivers face every day: the icy weather, the dirty work, the difficult patients.

Meanwhile, Teddy also struggles with the daily grind in the hospital as he works in the hospital.

Despite the difficulties of adjusting to London life, however, Sarah faithfully stands by her Teddy. She tries to make the most of the situation by giving her best in her work, and in this way, earns the respect of Mr. Morgan, his wealthy old ward. However, Teddy is oblivious to her success, as he is absorbed in his own problems with work. Sarah finds solace in her friendship with Mr. Morgan and his son David, who seems to appreciate her more than Teddy does, and with her little friend Sean (Makisig Morales), who somehow eases her longing for her own son.

Tensions rise between Sarah and Teddy as the stress of London life takes its toll on their marriage.

Will Sarah choose to remain by her husband’s side to keep her family intact? Or will she find the strength to stay in London to continue seeking a better life for her son, even if it means losing her marriage?

For a training center that offers Linux training - Linux System Administration and Linux Networking and Security Administration to be exact. I have already asked InfoTech Xchange and QLinux Labs. However, their schedule is not approved by my boss. I’m scouting for a center that offers weekend schedule since I still need to report to work during weekdays, 1pm to 10pm for this month. Btw, my company will be shouldering the expenses. Help!!!

Joshua’s potty training

I salute my mom for starting the little boy’s potty training. Before my son turned two, whenever my mom saw him trying to pooh on his diapers, she immediately removed it and rush him inside the bathroom. Now, my son says “uh uh” whenever he wants to pooh and doesn’t like to have the potty seat on top of the bowl, weird no?

Peeh is another story. He knows how to peeh like a man – standing while holding his “toot.” Until now, the ratio of successful peeh on the potty is 1/10. So, it’ll still be a long, long journey before crossing out diapers in the grocery list. Oh well…

It's time for some Sex and the City

From a half hour cable show, to the BIG screen. On TV, SATC wry look at Manhattan's dating scene that was more about female friendship than sex, though there was plenty of that. Will the movie live up to the series?
